MADE WITH THE TOOL IT EXPLAINS

A thought.
A conversation.
A website.

This is a site about making sites with ChatGPT Sites. A little meta. A practical place to start.

You’re looking at an example of what you can ask it to build.

✳
THE IDEA

“Create a site about creating a site.”

01 / THE PROCESS

Start with the job.
Then shape the details.

Give ChatGPT a useful brief. Review what comes back. Ask for specific changes.

01

Describe

Say who the site is for, what it should help them do, and what information it should use. Mention @Sites in your request.

“A one-page site for my pottery workshops. Help visitors compare sessions.”
02

Review & refine

Check the words, layout, links and behaviour. Add your own files or images. Give clear feedback on the parts you want changed.

“Shorten the introduction and make the workshop dates easier to find.”
03

Manage & share

Return to Sites to reopen your work. Check the finished version, choose who can visit it, then share its link.

“Keep it private while I check the content and test the links.”

HOSTING, DOMAINS & YOUR ACCOUNT

Your own address.
Hosting in one place.

Useful for separate projects, landing pages and experiments – with no separate hosting setup.

↗

Use your own domain

Connect a domain or subdomain you own, where supported. Buy and renew it separately, then add the DNS records from Site settings. Custom domains are unavailable in Enterprise workspaces at launch.

+

A paid account is required

Sites requires an eligible paid ChatGPT plan. It is included during public beta; availability depends on your plan, region and workspace settings.

≋

Multiple sites, shared limits

You can manage multiple sites, but unlimited hosting is not confirmed. Plan limits apply across all your sites and can restrict new sites, storage or high-usage public sites.

03 / YOUR TURN

A better brief.
A clearer starting point.

Fill in a few details to create a prompt you can paste into ChatGPT. Your answers stay on this page.

YOUR STARTING PROMPT↙ COPY & PASTE

This generates text, not a new site. Paste it into ChatGPT with Sites available.

BEFORE YOU SHARE

Give it a proper look.

A generated first version is a starting point. Review the text, test the interactions and check the experience on a phone.

A FEW PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Can I come back and change it?

Yes. Reopen the site from Sites in ChatGPT and describe the changes you want. Specific requests make feedback easier to act on.

Do I need to arrange separate hosting?

Hosting is included with eligible paid plans during public beta, subject to plan limits. Your own domain registration and renewal remain separate.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, where supported. See the hosting and domain details above.

What if I only want to save a draft?

Ask ChatGPT to save a version without deploying it. A deployment URL is a live version for the audience selected in the sharing settings.

Is this an official OpenAI guide?

No. This is an independent test site created with ChatGPT Sites. The product guidance was checked against official OpenAI documentation on 5 October 2026. Features and availability can change.

THE MOST META BIT

This started with one sentence.

“Please create a site about how to create a site using ChatGPT Sites!”

The result is the page you’re on. Your idea can be the next conversation.
